GRP Mobile Steps
Non-conductive mobile access for electrically sensitive environments
PJNC designed and supplied bespoke GRP mobile steps to provide safe access within factory environments where electrical equipment is present. The steps were required to support routine access and maintenance activities while minimising electrical risk.
Project Requirement
Mobile access was required within an industrial environment to reach equipment and work areas where electrical interference or conductivity posed a potential safety concern.
The access solution needed to be manoeuvrable, stable in use and suitable for repeated movement within an operational factory setting.
The GRP Solution
Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) was selected due to its non-conductive properties, making it a suitable material for use in environments where electrical equipment is present.
A bespoke GRP mobile step system was developed using structural GRP sections, providing a safe access platform while avoiding the risks associated with conductive materials.

The mobile steps were engineered to balance mobility, stability and safe access within a working factory environment.

Fabrication & Installation
The GRP mobile steps were fabricated off site and supplied as a complete unit ready for use. High-quality wheels were integrated to allow the steps to be repositioned easily within the factory environment.
No fixed installation was required, enabling the system to be deployed immediately without disruption to ongoing operations.

The completed GRP mobile steps provide safe, non-conductive access in environments where electrical safety is critical. Their durable construction and ease of manoeuvring make them suitable for long-term use within industrial facilities.
